There are fourteen principal roles. All ranges indicated span at least one, but not more than two octaves. Notes in (parentheses) are optional:
 

JUDGE TRUDI is the irrepressible queen of the courtroom who presides (nay, reigns) over the trial.
   Teen or Adult, Mezzo or Soprano, G to F
   Must be able to sing harmony

GRETEL FAIRLAWN is one of two adorable young siblings, the plaintiffs in the trial, who accuse their Stepmother of abuse and abandonment.
   Child or Young Teen, Mezzo or Soprano, C to G
   Must be able to sing harmony

HANSEL FAIRLAWN, the other plaintiff, is Gretel's brother and is equally adorable.
   Child or Young Teen, Mezzo or Soprano, A to E
   Must be able to sing harmony

MRS. FAIRLAWN, Hansel and Gretel's Stepmother, maintains her innocence, despite the abundance of evidence against her.
   Older Teen or Adult, Mezzo or Soprano (classically trained), A to F#

PLAINTIFFS' ATTORNEY represents his/her clients zealously and unscrupulously.
   Any Age, Mezzo or Baritone, G(A#) to F(F#)
   Must be able to sing harmony

DEFENSE ATTORNEY represents his/her client with equal zeal, but is not the sharpest tack in the ABA.

DONOVAN is chief of Security. He adores Judge Trudi, but hates children.

BARBARA STROTHER is an aging soap opera star who sees her role in the reenactment of the crimes against Hansel and Gretel as a well-deserved ticket back to the big time.

JOHNNY STREPP, a young actor and teen heartthrob, plays Hansel in the reenactment for the defense.

BRITNEY SMEARS, a young actress and starlet, plays Gretel in the reenactment for the defense.

CELEBRITY AGENT lurks inconspicuously waiting to offer book and movie deals to the most promising rising stars.

AGNES PATTERSON is an elderly infirm lady and a surprise witness for the defense.

FLOOR MANAGER is the ebullient and uninhibited, if sometimes inconsiderate, manager of the set.

   Must be able to sing harmony

FRANCIS/FRANCES is the level-headed Production Assistant who keeps the Floor Manager focused.
